After years of working for some of the largest chains in our country, I made the decision to open my own pharmacy. I had learned a lot about managing a pharmacy over the years, but corporate focus had become (and continues to be) heavily weighted towards increasing volume. For me the volume chasing mentality had come at the expense of providing excellent personal service. I wanted to try a setting that allowed more opportunity for patient interaction. In the small town of Comfort, Texas, with no pharmacy to serve it, The Drug Shop was opened on Sept 25, 1997. Two and a half years later my wife, Arabella, also a pharmacist joined me. Two part time pharmacists, a steady stream of excellent Pharmacy Interns from the University of Texas and Texas A&M University, six licensed Pharmacy Technicians, a long time OTC Manager and multiple cashiers complete our staff. On that nervous Thursday morning in September 1997, I could never have imagined the level of activity we now enjoy. Thanks first to God for this opportunity and also to all who have made this ride a reality. May we continue to improve in meeting your needs.
